Today, SHINee’sONEW releases his first full-length solo album, Circle, via SM Entertainment [AVAILABLE HERE]. Watch the video for the title track, “O (Circle),” HERE.
The ten-song collection displays ONEW’s incredible vocals and versatility across a variety of tracks, from the indie pop stylings of “No Parachute” which features powerful drum rhythms, to the emotional ballad “Always” which offers a comforting message, and many more. The title track, “O (Circle),” is an R&B song that combines an arpeggio synth sound, a heavy bass line, and a groovy melody. The lyrics express that the highs and lows of life are something we all have in common, and that just like seasons of nature, our lives come back full circle after taking various shapes and forms. ONEW’s album teaser images are also inspired by the concept of nature, creatively expressing the sun, wind, clouds, and ocean [VIEW HERE].
To celebrate the release, ONEW held a special three-day concert, ONEW 1st CONCERT ‘O-NEW-NOTE,’ in front of a live audience in Seoul from March 3-5, with the last show broadcast online globally via Beyond LIVE. His first-ever solo concert, the shows were met with excitement from fans around the world, with audiences in 74 different countries tuning in.
Circle is ONEW’s latest solo project since the release of his 2022 EP, DICE. NME gave the EP a 5-star rating, calling it “a stately revelation of his true, shining talents.” Rolling Stone India said, Breezy, chill and mellifluous, ‘Dice’ dials up the tempo and synth in the chorus, bringing in the right amount of kick and crunch,” while Sweety High wrote that the EP showcases “his bright sound, his amazing voice, and his ear for tracks that transcend genres (and borders, too).”
